A PRACTICAL HOST PLANNING GUIDE
Plan the reset.
Prepare the welcome.
Six conversations that help turn a furnished property into a clearer cleaning plan.
Use this as a worksheet for your own property. Your final quote defines the tasks, responsibilities and service window.
01 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Start with the actual guest setup
List the beds and sleeper sofas guests use, bathrooms and shared spaces. Note whether this is a first clean, a normal guest reset or a longer-stay refresh. A listing link is useful if available; it isn’t required to start.
- How many beds need making, rather than just how many bedrooms?
- Which rooms and appliance interiors need attention?
- Is there buildup or exceptional work to assess before a routine turn?
02 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Choose a workable linen method
Changing ready clean sets is different from washing and drying used items. Think through bedding and towels together, including who handles used linen after the visit. A clean spare-set arrangement can reduce dependence on machines finishing before arrival.
- Which clean sheets and towels will be ready, and where are they stored?
- Who launders the used items and checks for stains or damage?
- If machine laundry is requested, what equipment and time are available?
03 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Define what gets replenished
A simple essentials list helps avoid guesswork. Topping up from your stock is different from shopping for replacements. Set the desired quantities and decide who responds when stock runs low.
- What should be left for each stay, and in what quantities?
- Where are host-owned supplies stored?
- Who orders replacements or approves any purchasing?
04 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Work backward from the next arrival
Share checkout and next check-in times, including overlapping arrivals at other properties. Access, cleaning, linen handling and final review all need to fit. A requested window becomes a service commitment only after confirmation.
- What are the actual departure and arrival dates and times?
- Who tells the cleaning contact about late checkout or booking changes?
- Can the host allow preparation time when a window is too tight?
05 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Make the finish easy to understand
A few reference photos or simple notes can explain bed presentation and where everyday items belong. Agree on any completion information you need and distinguish a clean-complete message from unresolved property issues.
- What should beds and guest-facing items look like after the reset?
- Which completion notes or photos would help, if agreed?
- Who decides what happens if a visible issue needs attention?
06 / YOUR PROPERTY PLAN
Agree on access and change handling
Identify a person who can answer access or scope questions during the turnover. Arrange keys and access securely after the scope discussion. Additional work, repairs and supply purchases need clear ownership and approval.
- Who can make a timely decision if the work differs from the agreed plan?
- How will property access be arranged securely?
- Who handles maintenance, guest communication and any revised work?
General planning guidance. This worksheet does not add tasks to a quote or confirm a cleaning visit.
